Hey everyone- new IFly customer here. Having the 740b installed in my aircraft now. Just downloaded the app on iPad as well. I haven’t used the app/device in flight yet, but am I correct in thinking there is no glide ring drawn around the plane in flight?  Seems like an obvious should-have feature.

It has been requested before, by more than one person (including me).  Let's keep asking.  I feel that it would be a big safety feature.  I know ForeFlight has it.  It would seem like a piece of cake compared to synthetic vision.  But maybe that's why it hasn't been done yet -- because all the effort and attention has been on getting that working.

Garmin Pilot also has it.

I am curious to know how many of us actually know the glide ratio of our birds and have tested any published glide ratios. Of course, different glide with max gross as opposed to flying light.

I just had a BFR with a glider pilot. We went over a generalized Drag Polar chart, and he explained that best L/D varies with the square root of the ratio of weight. In our case, there is a 20% difference in speed from empty to gross weight.
