There are applications for the mount where the suction cup is not useful or not optimal.
In our LSA we mounted it high forward below the skylight (suction cup facing upward.) When the sun beat down on the plate the suction cup would periodically come loose in flight. Ifly would`ve dropped to the floor if we didn`t have a short safety cord on it.
We resolved our issue by drilling two small holes through the base and bolting it in place. (We might`ve been able to kludge together some sort of mounting screwdown clips..... but didn`t thing of that until later.)
But of course that has made the suction mount inoperative so if we ever took the mount out or wanted to position it elsewhere the suction wouldn`t work. Not a crisis, but ---
--- if the kit came with a plastic or metal flange or two clips .... some way to screw the base down (or up) without destroying the suction, that would a cheap, easy, and useful to some buyers, mod. Even better if you offered an alternative screwdown base for the mount. That way could use the screwdown base in the plane and the suction base in the car.
