I'm by no means an expert, I just read and retain random stuff.  Have you checked the power cord between your power suppllies and the Pi?  I seem to recall that not all power cords will carry the amperage that the Pi will require to operate properly.  If you use the same cord all the time, then this likely isn't the problem.  But if you use different cords in different situations it might be.

Have you ever thought that the problem is the USB cable you are using?  Many owners have had fits with the cheap USB cables that are sold. I gave up and ran my Stratux directly off the plane's 24 volt bus through a 2 amp circuit breaker, and that was two years ago with no problems whatsoever.  The Stratux will run off voltage up to 32 volts with an internal voltage regulator that is not documented. Also, when I shut down the electrics at the end of a flight, I just shut off the master; none of that stuff previously mentioned.

Mike,

Yes, that is one of the things I spent a lot of time experimenting with.  On the Stratux forums and other places, they mention that it is sensitive to cables, connetors, and power sources.  I found that to be true....  some cables really did not work, and some power supplies would apparently  not live up to their ratings.

I ended up finding two cables that work.  I even found one cord that was acting goofy when plugged in to the power source all the way, but worked consistently if you did not engage it quite all the way.  I am using only the proven cable now.

The best power solution seems to be the power bank Crewdog recommends:  The EasyAcc PB6000.  Not sure why the things are so finicky, but maybe the output from the 12 Volt USB power ports and the 110 volt USB adapters is not always clean enough DC.

The replies from Crewdog to my emails seem to have fallen silent.  I may have stumped them.....frown  Well, it has been interesting, to say the least.

Dick,

Wow, that is news to me!  I had no idea you could run the thing on 12 or 24 volts DC.  Heck, that might have saved me a lot of grief installing USB ports and messing with the annoying battery.

How did you connect ship's power to the Stratux?  Did you wire a Micro USB cord to ship power and plug it in the existing connector on the Stratux, or hardwire it somehow?

I have some more information on the power supply issue.  I asked Crewdog Electronics if the Stratux could be powered by 12 or 24 Volt DC.  I also did a little research on the Raspberry Pi.

The response from Crewdog was no, it requires a 5 Volt clean DC input via Micro USB.  Looking at the specs for the Raspberry Pi bore this out.  The one in my Stratux is a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.  If any of the Stratux units use a different Pi board, I am not aware of it.

I did find a small board called the Arduino which has a Canon Plug style DC power input connector.  It says you can use a 12 or 24 volt input.  However, this is a different unit than the Pi, and is more of a micro-controller than a computer.
