Thanks, Shane. It would be a big help to separate Terrain and Obstacles. I don't mind the color changes--that's useful. But the alerts are terribly distracting when flying low on purpose.

As for Obstacles and seaplanes--well, any indication of wires and towers ahead is good. Even better for situational awareness would be to highlight them on the map or have them flash on and off.

It would also be good if we users could add uncharted wires, etc., to a special set of user waypoints so that iFly could treat them as Obstacles--highlight or flash them when the airplane is flying low, within their "reach." Most seaplane pilots have been surprised by suddenly having a wire seem to materialize right in front of them. I lost a friend that way and have come close to making my wife a widow twice--missing surprise wires by only a few feet at the very last second.

Shane, I sure hope the new release has the functionality to disable ALL terrain warnings... like iFly used to have). After all, you promised me!

I want the ability to get no warnings whatsoever (no 500' call, no "terrain" siren, no exclamationn point, no flashing terrain depiction....no nothing) regarding terrain. I'm always below 200 feet and have trained myself to ignore iFly warnings - not a good thing.

Chuck... I don't believe I promised anything, I try not to ever promise such details as ultimately it is Walter's call and company.

To my knowledge, there will be the options to Disable the alerts seperately, if not alltogether. It has been discussed to remove all alerts if they are set to Disabled. Disabled should be Disabled, not partially disabled... In my opinion having an alert pop or show when disabled is a bug or design error.

The end result of splitting these alerts out is to give everyone better options to suite thier flying needs and to have better aviation consistency with alerting styles.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I'd like to contribute a vote in favor of separating the obstacle and tower alerts to allow different user set ups for each. I vote in favor of increasing the size of towers that are identified for alert as well. That would make them easier to locate with a quick glance at the screen. Do you have any idea when the next software release may come out?

Well - shame on me. Further reading shows you release 9.8 3 days ago. I'm looking forward to trying it. Thanks for the support.
