Hmm, I'm hesitant to post this Wish in this public discussion because I think it's such a good idea. But since I just suggested it in the Avare forum, I've already disclosed this publicly.
I request an optional horizontal scroll-lock, so that, when I'm viewing Plates Full Screen in Portrait Mode, on a screen that's a bit too small to see the whole vertical part of a Plate, all I have to do is swipe up or down in a general fashion and the Plate will only scroll up or down. (Not horizontally.)
Background: I use two tablets when flying IFR. One is a nice, big Nook HD+ with a 9" 3:2 screen. It can actually display a plate at actual size in portrait mode in iFly's full screen mode. (That is, presents just like a paper Plate. No scrolling necessary.) But the HD+ is too big to use as a Plate viewer in our smallish Glasair. So it sits on a stand on the center console in landscape for general navigation.
Instead of the HD+ for Plate viewing, I use a smaller 8" 4:3 tablet in Portrait on a hinged chart holder that flips out from the fuselage sidewall on my left.
The nature of an 8" 4:3 display is that, if you zoom to the left/right borders of the Plate, you can see a full chart at just about actual size. (Especially import for those of us with old eyes.) You lose the very top frequency row - and the textual description of the Missed above it. So you have to scroll sometimes. But you can see the plan and profile view just fine without having to scroll during the approach.
But if I have to go Missed, I don't want the frustration of hurriedly swiping down on the tablet to read the textual instructions again, only to find that, in my rush, (or turbulence) I've moved it to the left or the right off screen. If iFly were to allow me to lock out the horizontal movement (or allow a continuous left/right autocenter?) that would be fantastic. Then the accuracy of my swipe wouldn't be critical during a critical time.
Along with this request is a similar request to autoset the zoom for Plates in Full Screen Portrait mode. As it stands now, I have to adjust the zoom every time I open a new Plate. I would like to be able to set my Zoom so that left/right border of a Plate just shows, and then tell iFly to remember that setting. That way, every Plate will auto-zoom to the same size in Full Screen Portrait. (Since all Plates are the same size.)
