I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other, but I can see a scenario where bi-directional would be desirable. A pilot could be flying with an IFly device plus a tablet. He may want the ability to make flight plan changes on either device and have them transferred to the other device. Or, he may have a copilot using a tablet who could make changes, etc. It's a non-issue for me. I don't need it.

I belive another scenario where a pilot plans a flight on a smartphone or tablet. Then they go to the plane, where the iFly 740 is kept. They could then share that flight plan to the iFly740, but from then on, they may want that iFly 740 to be pushing out changes. The only way is to stop sharing on all and start sharing from the 740.

I think an option to Share/Push changes to all local devices, then have a "Always Accept" and a "Prompt for Approval" for changes coming back from those shared-to devicea. Basically, share from the phone to the 740, then any changes made on either device are pushed out to be auto-accepted or approved on other shared-to devicea. Making it a real backup benefit, yet protecting the interigty of the original plan.

We've discussed this briefly in the office and are bouncing it around. Thanks for the feedback on this and maybe we'll have some surprises in the near future.

The topic has drifted somewhat from the original post, but here comes my 2 cents, with apologies.

I fly with a 740 on the panel and an Android tablet on the yoke. The 740 is typically in enroute mode, with IFR chart and scads of informational guages showing. The Android has minimal gauges, vector map, and Nexrad displayed, and handles all the "what if" scenario's such as checking winds, ceilings, fuel prices ahead, etc. The Android is typically the master, setting up and filing the flight plan at home and then sharing with the 740 when the engine is fired up. If ATC vectors me to a different waypoint, it's easier to find on the 740. If I divert myself for fuel or bladder reasons, it's easier to select the new destination on the tablet. So I would personally benefit from a bi-directional setup, and I can see where a 2-pilot crew would also benefit.

Agree .... this discussion is kinda off topic (apologies for pointing that out). Ah, what the heck ... we're all friends!

I confess:
- I didn't consider an IFly 7xx panel mounted to the aircraft.
- I didn't think about running IFly on both the 7xx and the android using different views. Very cool.

For what its worth - I now see the value of having a bi-directional interlink based on Jeff's view/use of the technology, I think the having an option to either push/pull data with intermediate approval messages is great.

Please don't lose sight of the this original wish list request - having the interlink sync aircraft profiles and custom waypoints on both devices.

Cheers,
