I agree, thought I might be the only one out here, but I suspect there may be more. I have used a friends ADSB, and it is not a viable substitute for dependable weather for me. I still have to carry my Garmin 496 with XM weather to have a clue what is going on. Can not get a signal on the grond, might kick in at 3000 ft or so if I plan to fly that high, might let me know when it freezes up because of lost signal, etc.
I fly too low and too remote for ADSB to be effective most of the time. I hate paying the XM fee and having to carry an extra GPS which It seems I need to find a place to pernimate mount, but it frequently is a major safety factor for me. It does cause more heads down time to see what is going on.
ADSB is not all it is cracked up to be for me, but I do not have an airline. Radar might come up in a few minutes, might not. Like the difference in USPS and UPS. Want it tommorow?
Any chance of providing an iFly XM Weather receiver input in the future for those of us that would like to use a real WX service until ADSB might can catch up?
Thanks for what you do.
