Greetings, I currently use and enjoy the I-Fly app on a Galaxy tablet.  My Stratux, however has not faired so well.  It is dead.  The tablet without the Stratux works for the navigation, but I want the extras that come with ADS-B in.  I'm thinking of changing to the Ipad but will definitely need to replace the Stratux.  From what I can tell, the two main choices seem to be the Stratux (again) or a Stratus 3.  I'm not sure about the GDL-52.  Are there other choices that have AHRS out there that work well?

Thanks.

I think that the key to using the Stratux reliably is to always do a clean shut-down before turning off the power to it.

I replaced my iPad with a Galaxy tablet - it works better with the Stratux network and sharing flight plans than the iPad which only worked about 10% of the time. YMMV.

Thanks, Don.  That may be part of the problem but the little bugger got so hot running the case melted a bit and stopped the fan which aggravated things more.  Didn't notice it until shutting things down after a long trip back from Cleveland fighting 30 knot headwinds.

The first thing I'd suggest you do is determine if the stratux is completely dead.

Did you burn up the circuitry, did the SD card just get corrupted, or did you get lucky and just burn up the fan and case?.  If it's just the card, you can redownload the Stratux program onto the, or a new, card.  If you prefer not to re-do the card, there are places where you can purchase a card with the program already on it.

If you just burned up the Raspberry Pi, you can get one for probably less than $50 either on line, or at a local computer store.  If the frequency, AHRS, GPS, components are still good, just swap them into the new one.  Of course, a new case can be had on line, or at the local computer store as well.

Wait a while, there are a few on this site that are relative experts in the Stratux.  They can provide more technical input.

I'm on the same STRATUX for 3+ years now...

Had some issues with corrupt cards, bent antennas, and cracked connectors, but it still works.

I've had NO ISSUES since I started shutting it down before pulling power (like correctly shutting down your computer off before pulling the plug).

I have been looking around as well, but for the VALUE, the STRATUX is still the best thing money can buy.

I will be watching this thread for other ideas -- would also like to find something tough enough to stay in the plane (which is stored outside) and reliable enough to work every time.
