Hi Andre' and glad you are bringing this up to the group - it is indeed important to know the latest rules as the day is drawing nearer....

I was in the same situation as you - where do I find out more about this?

I went to the FAA web site and signed-up for thier re-occuring newsletter and online magazine while is delivered to my e-mail about every other week or so. I get many, many updates about ADSB, new rulings, new AD's, and plenty of safety information. In fact, I now get so much from them I am picky about reading it all.  (I do watch the ADBS headlines carefully though). I am sure this is where many of the flying magazines we BUY get their information also...many of the articles I will read later originate here.

I am in an area surrounded by the MODE C Veils so I will reluctantly have to get "ADSB out" eventually if I want to get anywhere. I already have ADSB IN thanks to IFLY, STRATUX and this group.

The FAA site is full of information on this and there is a sign-up for information. I recommend this to anyone, but like everyone, we all get a LOT of e-mail. Be prepared for much more.

Best wishes, Mike N714AJ

OK, I need to keep up. Don't you think it would be beneficial if the FAA sponsored seminars/workshops to keep us caught up with the changes you referenced as well as future plans/changes/enhancements? A nice gesture would be an FAA sponsored ADS-B seminar/workshop at national fly-ins or program meetings at local flying clubs/chapters.

My point is - the FAA has been very vocal about the deadline but not so much help teaching us how to use and understand the technology after we've installed it. If folks on this forum, who are usually quite skilled and informed, don't understand you need ADS-B out to get weather, don't you think there are a lot more who don't know that as well?

The information is available.  It's not the FAA's job to ensure people go get that information any more than it is their job to train people how to be pilots, or train people how to read an instrument chart.  ADSB seminars and info sessions won't happen for free.  What do you want the FAA not to do in order to provide such training?

And as has been mentioned several times in this thread, you do NOT need ADSB out to get weather.

Thanks for your help, Mike. I did navigate to your weblink, found this and have enrolled (I think - I got no confirmation after trying to enroll):

You're welcome.

There is also an option on there to be invited to all local flying breifings sponsed by or given by the FAA under the WINGS PROGRAM. (another flight safety program)

I get these all the time and can maybe attend less than 10% of them as there are so many in my area between DC, NY, Philly, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Frederick, and Trenton.

I would say about about a third of the lectures are addressing the ADSB issue and the compliance "crisis" -- folks are NOT equipping in droves and general aviation is falling far behind the curve of compliance to have even 75% ready by 2020.

I am on the fence...I have ADSB IN but am waiting on OUT (yet).  I do fly into and under Class B airspace routinely and am in the Mode C veil frequently.  It is going to be a big deal around here. Between the MASSIVE TFRs for the President and the ADBS rullings for the Mode C veils, many in GA will see a big change in access to their airspace.

For this area, it will mean FBO's under the Mode C veils will be hurting for fuel sales and other aircraft maintenance revenue streams. I am not sure how some will survive, but that is not a priority - I digress...

Hope the FAA info helps in some way. The site also has links to information on ADSB and what they (the faa) want to happen by 2020 and beyond.
