Jeff;

I also opened upFltPlan Go and FlyQ EFB and they both automatically joined the Lynx network and had green dots showing a valid connection.

Is it possible that we are just talking semantics here, that is, the Ifly GPS app has connected to the Lynx and just isn't loading any data up until I get the plane up to altitude. After all, the Lynx is not internet, it's just a wireless network.

What do you think?

Jeff

Turn off The Cellular Connection on your iPad and try to connect to the 9000.

You could be right, the "not connected" message could mean no Towers instead of no WiFi connection. I'll be home shortly and we'll see what my stratux says when it is connected but not receiving Towers.

Mine says connected to the SkyRadar ADS-B. Your IP address is confusing. *usually*, an address in that range means that the network (Lynx) did not give out an IP address from its DHCP server so the iPad served itself one in a private network subnet, which would mean the Lynx and iPad aren't talking to each other. Also, there should be an IP address listed for the router (Lynx), and there is none. Yet you say the other two EFB's connected to and communicated with the Lynx just fine. Did you see any traffic on their display when they were connected? I'm wondering if that was a false positive. Working on the false positive assumption:

Does your iPad have a cellular connection? If so, try turning it off. There's a default setting hidden deep within the bowels of iProducts that essentially says "If I can't get to the internet due to a weak or bad wifi network connection, route everything to the cellular network instead". It's a long shot but might be an issue.

Try disabling your wifi, then re-enabling it. Also, make sure you're not set for a fixed IP address; if so the Lynx won't be able to serve it a valid network IP.

When you're at home, see if your iPad gets a valid IP address from your home network. It'll probably start with "192", but should be anything besides "169".

When connected to the Lynx and outside the hangar, you should be able to pick up a few aircraft overhead. If the other EFB's are showing traffic then iFly should also be showing traffic, assuming it's set correctly to display it. Also, oldpilot is incorrect in saying that you'll need to be airborne to pick up 978 traffic - you'll probably need to be airborne to pick up weather, but 978 traffic (if any - it's not popular) should display while on the ground. I'm sure he'll correct that comment soon.

I watched a video and read some info on the 9000+; quite impressive! Then I saw the price :( . I'm still trying to decide on a 1090 solution myself.
