I use my autopilot on most flights. When I select a location to fly directly to, I hit the Go To Button but it runs a course line from a nearby airport to the selected location, not from where I am. My autopilot then turns sharply to intersect the course line from that airport. On instruments, this is very unsettling. What I really want is a go to button like I have on my Garmin 296 that goes to my selected destination from right where I am at that moment.
Garmin got it right this way.

I have not experienced this after the GPS has acquired a position lock. If I choose a direct to location it always draws the course line from my present position to the destination I have selected. What you're describing is not normal. Maybe an employee from ifly can help you determine what's wrong.

Which software version are you running?

C177RG: iFly 720, Stratux 978/1090 ADS-B in, AHRS, BMP, Stratus ESG ADS-B out. RV-3: 8" Samsung Tab A, Stratux 978/1090 ADS-B in, AHRS, BMP, Stratus ESG ADS-B out.

The latest version.
I got the autopilot tie-in working about last April and it works as good as my Garmin. I keep both of them working with a A-B switch. When I airborn and try to go direc from my present position, it ties me into this course line from from nearby airport. When IFR, I usually just switch over to the 296 and hit the go direcly to button and it aims me directly to where I select.

Interesting.

In 6.0.8 whenever I picked somewhere to go to the course line (purple line) would seem to guess a starting point close to me (typically an aiport) but the intended track line (blue) would point from me to the newly selected destination.

In 6.5.6 (latest) version as long as I'm moving (in the air) when I pick a new direct to destination (i.e. replacing my existing flight plan) the new course (purple) and intended track (blue lines) are immediately drawn from my current position to the newly chosen destination. This was to my understanding a known issue in 6.0.8. Are you sure you are on the latest version (6.5.6)?

Edit: [One other thought - although I upgraded to 6.5.6 initially I pretty much then immediately updated to 6.5.9 beta for other reasons, so much as 'on-paper' that was to be fixed in 6.5.6. maybe the 'real' fix was in the beta version. I'm not 100% sure if I tired that on 6.5.6. I was having NMEA data issues with that version which is why I went to 6.5.9]?
