Notams

Would be great to have the ability to display notams on the airport info page without having to use ads-b. My ads-b unit stays in my plane. I do all my flight planning at home. I'm new to iFly. Came from Garmin Pilot. GP shows all notams, but I got tired of Garmin's proprietary ads-b mindset.

A little surprised that this request hasn't gotten more attention - but as iFly has become more usable for desk top flight planning could we please have access to Notams without having to resort to looking at other sites?  Airports?  Check.  Weather?  Check.  Notams?  Nope.

Why send users to another aviation info source to get pertinent flight info when AFAIK all the other info is to be found right here in iFly?

You can get Notams through iFly but it's not very intuitive. Make a flight plan, click on Online Filing, Options, Get Briefing. This provides all of the NOTAMS, weather, adverse conditons, etc... Close the briefing and back out of all the menus. Clicking the Online Filing does not submit the flight plan which is what I thought it would do so I didn't try it out for months because of that.

I agree, that would be a workaround, but it isn't intuitive.  I'm glad you suggested it though as it brings to mind another really good point about needing to be able to review Notams on the Airport Info page.

While doing a flight plan, I like to look at each airport along the route that is either a waypoint (for filling/draining tanks) or a potential diversion field.  Using your suggestion, I create a flight plan, save it, file it, then get the briefing.  In the briefing I find that two of the airports have Notams that indicate a critical xyz is not available.  Back up, create another flight plan, save, file, brief only to find that one of my chosen alternative diversion field also  has a critical notam.

Which brings us back around to suggeting that we get Notams on the Airport Info page when we are not connected to an ADSB source.

You get a weather briefing, including notams, before filing a flight plan. I usually start getting weather briefings a day before I intend to make a flight, without filing a flight plan.
