With the recent GPS outages (articles here and here), I began to wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea for you to have a "Map Only" mode, where any/all connections to GPS are turned off and related instruments on the screen removed, so that you just have an electronic sectional/TAC/etc.  With the fallibility of GPS, I'd feel a lot better about not having to fight the program (in the case of spoofing) or wonder what happened to it (in the case of jamming).  The flight plans shouldn't go away, though.  Just things that are updated from the GPS.  And having an electronic Map Only would be way better than having to buy and carry paper sectionals!

Perhaps add a dead reckoning feature to try and keep  track of position

I think I mentioned an idea like this quite some time ago.  I settled on using the: Menu>About>Start Simulation Mode and adjusting the speed and track to match what I'm seeing out the window.   Having the majenta line there to show where you ought to be is nice, and having the map move "by itself" is easier than having to drag it along.

It's an interesting idea....  one would certainly have to be constantly reminding oneself that it's not real, just an approximation.  And it's certainly better than fighting a spoof.

It (belatedly) suddenly occurred to me that with GPS out, we'd lose (or couldn't trust) ADS-B as well...  yes?

You might be able to trust ADS-B.  I would like to think that ATC will not completely shut down upon loss of GPS, rather they would revert to the OldeTyme RADAR.  Therefore it would seem that ADS-B should be able to broadcast that, giving RADAR positions of all identified aircraft.  Weather, similarly is plotted with a regular RADAR, and should be able to be sent and displayed on your (iFly) device.  The only thing that won't be available is your actual relative position to weather or traffic.

Of course that's just a guess.
