I saw that iFly adopted my suggestion to prevent obliteration of the aircraft position and of airspace in the Vertical Profile in 57b. Cool!

Not to overstay my welcome, but here's a mockup of a suggestion I mentioned before - trimming the "fat" away from the current VP window.

As you can see, I cut the Title Bar from the window. Seems superfluous. (We all know it's the VP Window.)

I realize that the Title Bar was the drag handle. I moved that to the first "button." (Seems unnecessary. The entire window should be movable by just dragging it.)

Plus and Minus are the zooms.

X is Close. Replaces the "Done" in the old paradigm, which was redundant with the X in the Title Bar.

I took out the "Highlights" button, since it was redundant with the Setup button in the Main Menu.

Trimming the fat might not save much screen real estate, but any trimming that allows me to see more the map while looking at a PiP window is always good.

Yep, this was on our todos from a while back, but your email to me bumped it up as it was an easy tweak. Good feedback, I'll bump it around the office too and get some feedback.

Great ideas, but don't take out the highlights button please. I use this from here during flight depending upon the scenario for temporary changes much easier than digging through the setup while in flight!

I can't recall whether this is the case or not right now, but if anything I'd see the shading I select from the vertical profile button as for the flight or until I change it back, but when the unit is restarted (or maybe even after a landing) revert the shading to the 'default' as specified under set-up.

What would be even cooler would be the option for a split screen, map and profile rather than a pop-up so that the profile when displayed isn't on top of or covering anything (i.e. the map or the instrument boxes). That map/profile view is something I still really miss from my old Lowrance 2000. It was my favorite view when approaching or flying in any complex airspace.

Although I understand your reasoning to keep the "Highlight" button in the VP window, it's not consistent with a UI philosphy, where all the settings should be in one place. Perhaps the happy compromise is to make it so that getting to the terrain settings is easier from the Settings button? (If it could be done, no setting should be more than two clicks away. I propose that that the "Inst Group" button be repurposed. Does anyone change the grouping once they've customized it the way they like?)

On the split screen: I figure it's coming anyway, so I didn't say anything about it, as it would make my mock up moot.

I'm not a fan of split screen, at least not for long term use in flight. The reason I bought a 9 inch 3:2 hi-res tablet was to see as much as the map around me as possible. (We move at about 3 miles a minute and I like looking far ahead.) A split screen for the VP window defeats the goal I'm trying to accomplish here (trimming down the window) to present additional information without taking away from my view of the map.

But I'd bet split screen is coming, so you'll be able to set up iFly any way you like it.
