Maybe it's just me and my tricked out Nook HD+. (Custom Android kernel running f2fs and Dynamic Fsync.) But iFly keeps forgetting my Instrument profile.
It was forgetting my profiles on early releases, then did okay on the 8.3.42 public release. But happened on 54b.
Just happened on a flight Monday. Flew to destination, everything okay. Did a graceful shutdown of iFly, and then a graceful shutdown of my tablet. On power up for the return trip home a few hours later, no custom profile to be found. I rebuilt it when I got to cruise altitude in flight. But then after upgrading to 57b, it forgot again.
So I'd like a way to backup my profiles to a dedicated file, stored in the same directory as my map data. And, of course, a way to restore my custom profiles.
After I rebuilt and saved my profile again this evening, I searched for it in my Android file system looking for the name of my profile (using a tool that allows searches of root). I had planned on copying it manually. But I can't find it.
I'm guessing that iFly stores profiles in a binary profile file in /data/data/iFly.GPS. Fine. But how about allowing me to back up custom profiles to a separate file? That would allow me to restore profiles from backup if I lose one.
And it would allow me to copy one profile from my main tablet to my backup tablet. (Not that I'm really going to do that. Easier just to build the new profile on my backup tablet. But you could market it as a feature anyway. :-) )
