Will the 740 connect with the Stratus ESG? Under options it lists the Stratus III and Stratus v1 and/or Auto Detect, but i am unable to connect with any of these. Is something wrong with the unit or the is this operator error?

Yes, iFly will connect with the Stratus 3.  However it needs to be set in "Open ADSB" mode.  I thought I heard that iFly had the capability to set that switch appropriately itself.  Since it seems it isn't, you need to get an iOS device, download and install the "Stratus Horizon Pro" App.  Then, connect to your Stratus 3 with that iDevice and set the "Open ADSB" switch to on/green.  Once you've done that, the 740 should both connect and receive data.

As I recall, either way the 740 will connect to the Stratus 3, and it will indicate so in your WiFi page, but it won't gather the ADSB information.  None of the boxes will be checked when you access the ADSB Status until after the Stratus 3 is in Open ADSB mode..

The Stratus 3 should stay in Open ADSB mode for as long as no one with ForeFlight accesses your Stratus 3.  When ForeFlight connects with the Stratus 3, it automatically turns the switch off.

Also, I believe that only ForeFlight, OR iFly can access the Stratus 3 at one time, they can not both get the ADSB information from the device.

Mike is correct on how to get it operating with the Status 3 (and 3i).  I have had the ESG/3i working with iFly running on the 740 and IOS devices for almost 2 years in my C-182

Sorry for taking so long to reply, but finally downloaded Horizon App, installed, and was up flying, turned on IFLY and scared myself to death. I was surrounded by at least 10 aircraft that I had no idea they were there. All was well, as I tapped them and all were either airliners at 30,000+ or were significantly lower than me. I have reset the alert features and all is well. Thank you for your help as the Horizon App worked exactly like you said it would.

If you haven't noticed, the Stratus Horizon Pro app is how firmware updates will get to your Stratus3 as well.
