Please tell me this is not true!

I just spent $3000 and two weeks installing this system and it was not noted anywhere that you had to have an Apple device in order to get this to work with the 740!

The reason I bought the Stratus was because all the literature said it "worked" with the IFly. I have no intention of buying an Apple device.

Neither IFly nor Appareo mentions the need for an IOS device in order for it to work with the IFly.

It sounds like the Stratus only needs to connect to an iOS device once, briefly, to make the change. Could you enlist a friend with an iOS device to download the app and make the change for you?

That's what I did today. We live in the boonies and no one near by has an IOS phone/device. Fortunately my daughter came for a rare visit today and she was able to go to the airport and do this.

The problem is that you still need an IOS device to get software updates.

Heh. I bought a Win10 laptop solely to update Dynon firmware and adjust an Airmaster prop--about once in a zillion years. Fortunately, AP brought out the Windows version of iFly, so now I leave the thing lit up on my desk to watch the weather in iFly, even though I still dislike Windows and detest Microsoft for its vile and predatory business practices.. You might find some similar reason to buy a used iPad and--who knows?--might even find a reason to like it.

This may be true, but make sure the iDevice you end up with will run the Appareo Horizon Pro App.  The old Stratus app ran on my rather old iPhone, but the new version needed to control the Stratus3 will not.  Luckily I have an iPad Mini4, and it runs the app that will control the Stratus3.
