Since neither I nor anyone I know lives at airports, is there a simple method within iFly to find airports that are near my city/town destination?  That is, I know the airport designation where I'm leaving from but I only know the city/town I need to fly to.  So how do I find that town's airports within iFly?  Flight planner does not have that capability that I know of.  This always adds extra time and frustration when I need to go somewhere I've never been before.  Help, please.

Thanks,

Skypuppy

I don't know of a way to do it in iFly, but a quick internet search turned up a couple:

https://www.travelmath.com/nearest-airport/

http://www.allplaces.us/afz.cgi?s=&rad=10

There may be more, and there may be a way within iFly, but I haven't seen it, or tried to look for it.

Most searches for airports tend to skip over turf field, even those with full services, fuel, hangars, etc.

For example, just tried flying into the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Cooperstown Airport was not listed in most "fly in" search engines.

In fact Cooperstown IS the closest public airport and is plenty long and wide for most GA aircraft.

Just sayin'!

I usually just look at a chart for where I'm going and start looking for possible destination airports.  With iFly now on our Windows computers, it's easy to have the entire USA sectional charts available.

I just downloaded the entire USA except the 7 states I already had.  I downloaded all except high altitude IFR charts.  It took about 1 1/2 hours with my U-Verse internet connection.
