Brian,
I can certainly do that while the weather's nice!

Oldpilot, there isn't really anything uniquely identifiable for most VFR mode C traffic squawking 1200. Even if you could enter a unique code, it would help in some circumstances but be cumbersome or irrelevant in others.

It wouldn't be that cumbersome if there was something to be entered. You would enter it once for your airplane. I do that now for my SkyGuard ADS-B transceiver and I rent 5 different airplanes. I enter it into IFly during pre-flight or the night before I fly if I think about it.

It wouldn't be that cumbersome IF I had ADS-B out, which at this point is likely close to 3 years away, lol. Last few times I went up, I wasn't using my transponder, so no issue, but I will try to remember when the weather clears.

I was using the Stratux and just turned on the Filter Ghost traffic option to get rid of me following me.

Now I have installed the Navworx system IN/OUT and do the same. I have found that when flying as a flight the filter wont show my wingman unless he moves at least 1/2 nm away from me.

I gave my Stratux unit to my friend, but he has Wing X and he sees Ghost traffic and doesn't have the option to get rid of it. Just anotjher great feature IFLY provides for pilots that isn't available on other applications.

That is how with ghosting logic works. It trends your current Alt, Speed, Track and then looks at other planes directly around you to filter them out. A wingman is going to get filtered as it is a known traffic. Would you want him/her to be popping traffic alerts the hole time? If he began to change altitude, speed or directly more quickly, it would show.

Unfortunately, at this time there is no perfect way to determine yourself differently from another ADS-B traffic report. If it was all ADS-B out traffic, it would be easier, but with Mode C, Mode S, there is not a common denominator to determine this yet. All the ADS-B out, in makers, and app developers are working through this... I hope this helps.
