First let me say that I think the iFly GPS on Android is great! Especially the Charts; I never flew with charts displayed on my GPS because they were so hard to read but I always use it on the iFly.

On to my problem. Has anyone noticed that the time in the "Flight Duartion" seems to lag over time. I've used the iFly GPS app on Android (Samsung Tab 3.0 7") on maybe 6 flights so far. The first couple were with my old Anywhere Map Quadra also running. It seems on flights over 45 minutes or so, that the "Flight Duration" time on the iFly loses time as the flight goes on. I was recently on a 3+ hour flight and my actual flight time was 3hrs, 13 min, but the "Flight Duration" was 3hr, 7 min. I haven't tracked if the time lag is consistant over time but I just wanted to point out my observation

--I'm not sure if the problem lies in my tablet or in the app; or if there is a way to know.

I've attached a pic of one of my recent flights. On this flight, I departed @ 10:30 local time, the tablet local time shows 11:52 (actual flight time 1hr, 22 min) but the Flight Duration shows 1hr 17 min.

I suspect the reason is that iFly stops counting flight time when the tablet loses GPS lock.

iFly folks, is that indeed the case?

We start the clock during your takeoff run, and stop/pause the timer when you land. We don't track taxi time, could that be the discrepancy? It should keep counting even through a lost GPS signal.

Thanks,

Walter, Thank you for the response, its nice to know the boss monitors AND replies in the forum (one of the many reasons I switched to iFly).

I understand that the timer starts at takeoff but that's not the discrepancy. I have been able to do a side-by-side comparison with other devices (GPS and simple kitchen timer) and notice the time lag. Even if you start a kitchen timer right before rolling out onto the runway, that would only be a 30 second difference.

I'm not sure if the problem is seen in simulator mode, maybe its just a problem during actual flight time.

Noted, I will forward this to our bug list.
