My earlier post show read "upgraded to Version 8.1.46b"

When I first bought my Nexus 7 and Asus TF700, and tried using them in the airplane, I quickly found they would not maintain GPS lock using the internal GPS. I bought a Dual XGPS150A and it worked great with both tablets. I then upgraded to a Dual XGPS170 for ADS-B and it worked great also.

I've been hearing that too. Seems like it is documented fairly heavily that the "Google Nexus 7 2013" model might have some sporadic GPS signal loss due to hardware. Users report that the Gen 1 Nexus GPS is solid. Just what I've heard and read.

Anyone I've spoken with that used the Dual XGPS 150/160 receivers or other GPS receivers, state the GPS signals are solid when an external GPS in the mix. I hope this helps and with this concern.
