Now that one can file a flight plan right from the ipad, I have a few questions

- can the flight planner show preferred IFR routes that ATC would accept rather than the usual DIR?

-once the flight plan is filed does one receive email/txt confirmation, and better yet would it show amendments to the original flight plan route that ATC might have changed.

maybe I am expecting too much but these would be great goals to keep up withe the competition.

thanks

Wish I could figure out Picture Posting... Looks like it can. I entered a 'Direct' flight plan, then did the rubber band dragging to make it comply with IFR routing. The Flight Plan reflected that routing AND the changes show up in the Flight Route when moving to the filing form. (I think I had to Save it first?) Give that a try and see if you get the same thing???

Hi Dinshaw,

Here is the link to Lockheed Martin: https://www.1800wxbrief.com/Website/home

I don't believe your actual clearance is available as one of the messages (I could be wrong... You will need to test for yourself).

Hope this helps.

You are correct. It's not the actual clearance. What is available is an "expected" route clearance which, depending on locality and traffic is usually the same as the clearance one gets.

What some apps are doing is creating connections with LockMart. For example, ForeFlight can file your flight plan directly with LockMart (bypassing DUAT) and relay the expected clearance to you by email and directly to the app via a notification that you can accept as the flight plan.

I see iFly GPS is already listed as a service provider with LockMart.
