You are correct. It's not the actual clearance. What is available is an "expected" route clearance which, depending on locality and traffic is usually the same as the clearance one gets.
What some apps are doing is creating connections with LockMart. For example, ForeFlight can file your flight plan directly with LockMart (bypassing DUAT) and relay the expected clearance to you by email and directly to the app via a notification that you can accept as the flight plan.
I see iFly GPS is already listed as a service provider with LockMart.
