Hi,

I have an iPad2 3G (with internal GPS). I have been using iFly for the last couple of months. The application is stable when no external GPS is connected to the iPad. Occassionaly, I use the Dual XGPS150 (bluetooth) for reliability. I suspect that it induces application freezes in flight. On several occasions, while the external GPS was connected, the sectional map froze, and I was forced to close the application, unload it and reload it.

In addition, sometimes when I connect the external GPS and load the application, there is a 'No GPS signal' warning message, although the GPS receiver is on-line. I am forced to reload the application in this case as well.

Regards,

Daniel

Daniel, thanks for reporting this. We have identified a bug that might be causing this behavior. A new iPad release will be coming in a few weeks that has this and other fixes / improvements.

Thanks!
Walter

I also saw this 3 times over the last week on multiple flights where I had to exit the application and go back in to unfreeze it. I also noticed today with both the iFly 720 and the iPad Mini Retna that the MSL altitude box reported between 50-100 feet difference between the two devices. The average difference on the 2 hour flight was probably 75'.

I have had the same issue with an iPad mini (non retina display). I am using the SkyguardTWX and have had several freezes on my iPad mini, and on my 720 (same flights, different times). Luckily I have a 520 on board as well and it has not frozen. This is really bad on a cross country flight, as there is no indication that the application has stopped updating.

I was about 10-12 degrees off course before I noticed. I glanced over at the 520 and saw that it was showing a different course and speed than the other units.

I finally took the 720 off of the Skyguard and used the internal GPS. It never locked up again on the flight. The iPad did though. The issue seems to be either the use of an external GPS source, or an issue with the SkyguardTWX.

Mike, there was an issue that was fixed with the latest iPad version. Do you know what version you were on when you experienced these lock ups?
