I had an opportunity to take my iFly iPad with Dual XGPS170 on a long trip. After 4 hours of elapsed time, the iPad power indicator was down to 30%. I did plug it into an external power plug for the return trip, but even though it showed a green charge status, I was only able to slow the rate of discharge. In the next 4 hours of elapsed time, the power indicator went down to 15%. So, either a good external power plug or external power pack is required for extended flights. The option I chose is the external battery pack, Jackery Giant + (12,000 mah). Today after over an hour the iPad was showing 100% and the Jackery was above the 70% indication. iPad was always showing a green charging status.

I had one interest thing happen. While using the iFly app buttons, I activated the Control Center panel on the bottom of the screen. While swiping the display panel off, I must have turned the Bluetooth off. The only indication I noticed was the iFly app showed ADS-B towers out of range message. This is misleading and I did not take note of the small Bluetooth icon at the top of the screen. So, we flew home without weather data and on the internal GPS, not a big deal for that flight.

There is a setting fix for this. In the iPad “Settings”, go to “Control Center” and deselect “Access Within Apps.” This will prevent the pop up control center menu.

I should note, other than the control center thing, everything else worked as advertised and agreeded 100% with my 430W.
