Hi Barry,
Thanks for checking in and inquiring about the iFly 720. Please see my responses to your questions below.
1-2. The latest revision of the Manual is 7.5.2, here is a direct link to it: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/portal...
3. Yes, the iFly 700 and 720 can be mounted in either Landscape or Portrait mode. The iFly does not rotate and switch automatically, this is not a good feature for aviation. With the iFly, you'd set it to Protrait or Vertical mode and it will stay that way.
4. The iFly also has Extended Runways. When approaching an airport, you can simply touch that airport and select Show Extended Runways from the list. You then have an option to choose the desired runway.
5. The iFly's HSI is as accurate as the GPS signal. Keep in mind, the Altimeter is GPS Altitude, not Pressure Altitude. Also the Speed is GroundSpeed, not AirSpeed. Since the iFly is not connected to the avionics of the plane and it is driven by GPS altitude, it won't show the Glideslope. You would have a Vertical Speed Indicator, though. As with any portable device, I would not recommend it as the primary IFR Navigation. I'm sure some of the other guys could tell you thier experiences. I'd rather have the iFly and its IFR Plates, HSI, 6 Pack than nothing.
6. We output the NMEA data through the USB port. You'd need a USB to Serial (rs-232) cable, available on our store for $25. From there you could just pin in multiple connection to the Data pin. On a standard DB-9 connector, Pin #3 is Data and Pin #5 is Ground. We've got lots of pilots running multiple NMEA outs, Autopilots, EFIS, Fuel Flow, etc without issue.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact us at 1-888-200-5129. I think you will be very pleased with the iFly GPS and the community of pilots that have the iFly. They are the best and very passionate aviators.
