I called about this issue several months ago, but it hasn't happened since, so I thought maybe it was an anomaly. Over the holiday weekend, I flew from SC to PA and back. Many times I lost all signal (have 720 panel mounted with the external antenna on the glare shield). It would not pick up a signal again until I went into the GPS menu and went through a hot start (or restart - forget the actual name). Almost immediately it picked up the satellites again - sometimes locking on for quite a while, sometimes losing signal again after a short while. It almost appears to be a software issue, as when this happens and I have to go through the menu for the hot start, sometimes the menus hang for a bit when selected....? Is there any diagnostic file that is able to be saved and reviewed?

Hi Ed,

Seeing if you received my zip file? Emailed it to you 10 July.

Thanks!

Last week end I flew an hour to a fly-in breakfast and the 720 worked well. On the way back I couldn't use it at all. Did not get a satellite lock at all. Had a friend with me and told him how nice not have to buy charts any more. Kinda embarrassing.
Next week I'm flying to Raleigh NC. and then to Cody WY. Now I don't trust it and will be buying charts.

Not happy,happy,happy.

Just out of curiousity, if the iFly doesn't acquire, or loses GPS, it will still work as a sectional, right? We'd just have to pan it along as we watched the ground.

Thanks, Ed. I'm going to do some trouble shooting tonight - thinking I may have some interference going on with external antenna routing/placement, but still odd though that it will go hours/many, many flights and be fine (and the software slow down issue that we spoke about).

Lee - would be interested in hearing about your mounting/equipment setup to see if we may have some similar scenario for possible interference issues.

Mike - not absolutely sure, but I believe you can still scroll/zoom when the signal is lost. Not 100% positive as I did not try it during the signal outage.

I am more than backed up with a 430, 496, Skyview, and Wing-X (over kill anyone... :) ) but I would be a bit more unhappy if this was my only navigator. With Walter not finding anything in the log files, I'm going to pursue the interference issue more.
