Great, looking forward to it! This will have portrait mode, right?

Replying as a beta tester . . . Nope, ver. 7 does not have a full portrait mode yet. Plates can be rotated and so can pdf files, but the map navigation is still landscape at this time. But don't let that disappoint you - Walter and company have outdone themselves with ver 7. It is spectacular. The terrain and obstacle features are implemented extremely well and everyone will be impressed. Knowing how thorough Walter and Brian and the AP staff are in deploying new features, I am sure when they do implement portrait mode it will also be worth waiting for. Expect to be amazed! ===Ralph

FYI, I have started development on the 6-pack Aviation Instrument panel mode, and it's going smoothly. This is targeted now for v7.5 (target date not announced).

Additionally, we're also planning portrait mode for v7.5. But no promises yet. Portrait mode is next on my workplan, but we won't know the true difficulty of this task until we start work on it, and measure our rate of progress. I'll keep you updated as we find out more (maybe within 2 weeks).

Good question. In short, it's the ability to configure iFly for an Instruments-only mode which shows 6 instruments that are typical to see in cockpits. Here's a mock-up snapshot to give you an idea, taken from an open-source implementation we found on CodeProject named "Avionic Instrument Controls" by Chootair.

Due to obvious limitations on available data feeds, aspects of these instruments will likely be omitted (e.g. "Airspeed" shown would be replaced with "GroundSpeed", and the "Turn Quality" ball inside the "Turn Coordinator" may not be avaialble).
