Ok, perhaps this all has been covered but here is a quick rundown as I got my setup up and running today with the help of Ed @ AP

1) Check with AP and see if you need an OS update. If so, they will send you an SD card to perform (with instructions) and a return envelope.

2) Perform update - takes about 10min.

IMPORTANT!!!!

If AP also sent you a replacement SD card (in addition to the OS update card), install it - then YOU MUST DOWNLOAD A WEATHER UPDATE (in the form of a std update package) from the AP site.

Install the USB update as you would any update. This is crucial because it installs a file that is necessary for Skyradar info to work with the iFly. Without it, the iFly will show Skyradar connected but you will not receive any updated data.

3) Boot up the iFly and Skyradar BEFORE connecting the USB cable between them. It was recommended to connect to Skyradar first, then the the iFly. I don't know if it really makes a difference but it works. Also, NOTE: you do not need to use the Skyradar GPS antenna for use with the iFly (one less thing on the glare shield). It is nessessary for other devices so don't get rid of it.

4) Fly. In a very short amount of time you will be getting weather updates (I am in the NY, NJ area so it might be different elsewhere).

That's all I've got, still need to learn how to effectively use all the features (but what I have figured out so far is fantastic), but I hope it helps.

Fly safe..

Dave K,

I have seen this problem several times now; the iFly showes that it is connected to SkyRadar as I taxi out, but once I'm airborne no data is being received. I then disconnect the USB cable, leave the SkyRadar energized, reboot the iFly, then reconnect to the USB and everything is fine.

I'm currently rewiring the power input to the devices, so I can depart with the iFly on, and once airborne then switch on the SkyRadar. I am hoping that I can get the two talking without having to start dealing with unplugging and then repluging USB cables while airborne! (I have all the available updates.) Thanks for your input very much, I will keep you posted how I make out.

That said, I know that it works, and not only with SkyRadar, but while driving an autopilot at the same time; I guess that just need to understand the "boot" sequence.
