Bobby:
I am not an AP employee, only another owner/user, and I don't want to preempt any response from them, but here are some quick answers to your questions.
1. Presently iFly 700 does not support PCAS (Zaon) units, however Walter has said it is AP's intention to support a host of devices in the future. No dates. FYI, Zaon is PCAS (traffic only), not ADS-B (weather and some traffic, depending on receiver or transceiver).
2. The Radenna Skyradar is the only ADS-B receiver that has been tested thus far by AP to work with the iFly. It was used during the development of software version 6 to display live weather and traffic (traffic depends on your ADS-B receiver/transceiver) on the iFly screen, using the free ADS-B uplink. Again, Walter says it is AP's intention to test other ADS-B receivers, like the Navworx, for compatibility. Patience, ver 6. just went operational a couple of week ago.
3. if you want to know the capabilities of ADS-B I suggest you browse the FAA web site and Radenna Skyradar's web site.http://skyradar.net/. Read about the Skyradar Receiver - don't be confused by their application - it's for an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.. We are using the iFly.
4. Texas does not have full ADS-B coverage yet, except in the Gulf area. See FAA coverage map at: http://www.faa.gov/nextgen/flashMap/i..... Let the page load, "Click to Begin" box, click on the "ADSB" button on the left, then the "EnRoute" button near the top right. The entire US is supposed to have ADS-B coverage by 2013.
5. After you become an owner of an iFly and register, there will be a link on the AP web site to submit an application to become a beta tester for future software developments..
The excellent support staff at AP may add or correct anything I have said. The product is absolutely great and keeps getting better, and the company is outstanding in every respect. Best regards. --Ralph
