As a newbie on GPS, I can't figure out where to buy / download street data for my 720.

Can I use Garmin's data?

What is the most precise data, for town navigating.

I am not particularly interested in POIs, just precise nav and also small roads (backroads) would be fine.

It would have to include Canada.

What are you guys using?

Thanks !

Guy,

iFly Streets is updated from the www.naviextras.com website. The iFly ships with US streets data when the Streets option is added. On the NaviExtras site, you can select to buy/add the Canadian Streets data. It will include the POI data as well, though. We sell the US Streets data as an option on the iFly 700/720.

iFly Streets is a co-developed/licensed solution with iGO Navigation. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, Shane.

I should have mentionned that I already knew about Naviextras, but I was wondering if this is the only source for maps tat are compatible with iFly.

For example, Backroad Mapbooks seem to have very nice hi-resolution ground maps.

This is just to spend some time on the road with my 720, until you add the aviation coverage of Eastern Canada, and then it will be installed permanently in the airplane.

Guy,

I'm not directly aware of any that will work right out of the box. There are several Map solutions out there, but many have to have a special build for the device. Sorry, I wish I could help. I've tried several when we were looking at iGO Navigation. OzziExplorer is a big universal maps program, but I don't this it w'orks either. Have a great weekend.
