Here are a few shots of the Skyradar actively saving the day. Winds aloft was still not working but everything else was good. It was great to have ATC routing me around it while we were watching the entire time. Without this info we might have chosen to divert but we knew (and could see) the weather which really made for a safe and practical flight. I would never have felt this comfortable in the past with just weather updates along the way.

Awesome photos Dave. Seems like that was pretty nasty stuff out there. It's good to see that the Skyradar does what it says it will do. How much luck have you had with traffic info?

Traffic is basically non existent. I've seen 2 warnings over the past few months. Hopefully they will change how data is sent so we all can have access. Also frustrating was no winds aloft data. This has worked on past flights but seems inconsistent.

Dave, don't forget, those pictures can be 15 minutes old and on a fast moving front, you might fly into it unless you give it a wide birth. On the Options page, the time of the last update will tell when it was issued. Great pics. Down here in the desert, we don't get clouds that paint and I don't fly with crappy weather unless on a 4 hour cross-country trip so in 3 months, I have not painted very much much less what you got. I am hoping the new version software coming out soon will have less blocky presentation of the clouds.

I have yet to see a traffic alert in the busy Houston Class B, which is disappointing. Re: Winds aloft, just making sure you heard that bug is supposedly going to be stamped out: http://ifly.adventurepilot.com/SUPPORT/Forum/tabid/108/forumid/10/postid/5606/scope/posts/Default.aspx#5606
