I started flying in 1968, obtained my commercial ticket, got kids and responsibilities and.......ran out of GI bill money. After some 38 years, my financial can-do is finally able to keep up with my want-to, but in some ways, it's kind of like giving acorns to a squirrel who has lost all his teeth. I never got flying out of my mind, and in November 2010, I decided to pursue my lifelong dream to be an aircraft owner and fly whenever I choose.
In May, 2011, I ordered my iFly 700 on the same day I finalized the purchase of 233, and asked that it be shipped to me in care of the FBO in Ohio where the aircraft was located. When I arrived later in the week, it was there waiting for me.
The former owner of 233 arranged for a very competent CFI to spend as much time with me as I needed. We spent around 12 hours together over a 4 day period, then he signed me off for my BFR.
The flight home to Washington state served to form a bond between me and my iFly 700 which I hope to never be without. Although I keep (perhaps not current) charts in the aircraft, my iFly has never failed me. Flying over the Rockies in a C-150 and in marginal May weather can be a little lonely, but the information I received from my unit was always consistent with the charts and terrain. The more familiar I became, the more I enjoyed flying...even more than nearly 40 years ago.
I don't intend to achieve more ratings or pursue a flying career, so this fine unit is all I need. Thanks Walter and staff for helping me to achieve a new level of satisfaction and joy in my life. I didn't know flying could be so much fun!
