Just received my new iFly700 today. Initially it looks really good but I have run into a problem.

I had entered a trip, all on one sectional, as a direct.flight. I added a waypoint using the rubberbanding. All still fine. Then I added another waypoint by tapping on an airport under the rubberbanded waypoint, and it locked up. (just a spinning hour glass). I waited about 2 minutes and then tried to break out of it by touching the screen. No touching would cause any change. It appeared to be still trying to update the plan.

After 5 minutes of this I tried the standard computer reboot (pulled the plug) and then tried again. This time is just sat at the screen saying it was updating the maps.

I tried power reset again and it claimed it could not load the nav program. I powered down, tried reseating the sd card, powered up and same same.

Then on one reboot it loaded up my previous chart, half way, showing the rest as "loading" but no joy. Then it pooped an error:

ESECTIONAL.EXE 0xC0000005 Address 02F9F28 (hmm seems like I missed one here)

Anyway... I powered off and moved to my office to see about just redownloading the entire program.

I plugged the iFly in and it seemed to work ok. It had mu old program, waypoints etc. I started to swipe move west and after a couple of refreshes I ended up with a locked display, showing all panels but the upper left one. The upper left says loading, and tings are locked... Again!

It sat this way for about 8 minutes while I wrote this. I powered off and on again and I get a "The system can't execute the navigation program OK? BTW it is not OK.....

I also note that it is 72 degrees in the house and the unit is rather warm, but I am not surprised based on the size of the display, I am assuming this is not a heat related lock up problem.

Turned off for 5 minutes and now I get "Loading data and initializing moving map. Please wait..." But the wait doesn't seem to end.

Suggestions? This does worry me. Fine on the ground playing, but in the air?? My son is due to head out Tuesday on an across the country cross country and I would love to resolve this before them.

Config System info

Version GPS Navigation System 2010.7.13

System Information

Boot launcher : 3.0.1

OS : 3.0.5

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

I apologize for these problems - I agree, this is not okay. There are some known software issues that can cause a lockup, but they should be very few and far between. What you are describing here does not conform to any known bugs. And the "The system can't execute the navigation program" error indicates a hardware fault. We will need to send you a replacement unit. Unfortunately this will not be possible by Tuesday. I will send you an offline e-mail with my contact information so we can discuss this a little more.

Again, I'm sorry about this issue...

-Walter

Just for the record since folks are following this.

Walter did e-mail me, very quickly, last evening.

I called him and we talked. It looks like my system has some sort of a hardware fault.

He offered to send out a new one Tuesday as a replacement. Since my son is flying across the country I am going to opt

to have him fly into TKI, and meet Walter for the swap.

I certainly would rather have not had "the one" that has a hardware problem, but so far Walter has been very responsive.

Also when it does work, it is really amazing.

I will post later on how the new one works out.

Bill
