I was playing around with the "Find Nearest Airport" feature tonight, and found myself wishing I had more info about whether the airports listed were podunk grass strips or major multi-runway towered airports, etc.

Any chance you could add some more info to that screen? For instance, is the first column very useful? You probably can't mix and match graphics and text there very easily, but a graphical representation like what's shown on a sectional chart would be great if you could pull that off. Also, a column for "longest paved runway" would be useful data to have if you needed to pick a place in a hurry....

I've actually discussed this with Walter. I'd like to see the Type indicated as (Standardized Public/Private, Paved/Grass Airport Icons). Then add both the Runway Length and the Com Frequency (Tower or CTAF depending on controlled or non). This would give a very handing picture of the airport around for both monitoring traffic and quick reference in the event of an emergency.

It would also be nice to specify or limit to paved or grass with minimum runway lengths for Nearest and then allow all for an emergency. I'd rather land at a shorter grass runway in the event of a true emergency. A short strip is likely better than a field.

Just some thoughts as these are features I have dear to me as well. These are and other enhancement to the "Find Airports" are on the wishlist. There is more room in Landscape Mode than in Portrait, but we could possible use the lower details box for runway length, Com Freq, etc.. I know they are looking in the architecture of the databases and such to possible quickly access this information. I'll keep at em...
