Got to playing with Real Plan and some routes through the mountains of the northwest and came up with an idea for us lower / slower folks that would be similar to the Avoid Water check mark and options: include the old school "I Follow Roads" option with check marks of Close (1 mile), Near (10 miles), or Far (20 miles). The 740b has road navigation in it already so plotting a flight from Sandpoint Idaho to Missoula Montana with the check mark on "IFR"/Close would keep me within gliding distance of highway 200 on the most direct route or follow highway 95 to interstate 90 across the pass. RP does a fair job of routing past the high peaks but it still picks many routes over terrain that I would normally avoid. This would also be useful for a lot of the desert areas out west where I wouldn't want to wander too far from travelled roads in case something went wrong.
