Hi Walter - I just recently bought an Android 10 inch tablet which I'll be using to download the weather and TFR's for my iFly 700 while on trips. I've also loaded some old eSectionals for all of the 48 states onto the tablet. The eSectionals are in the .jpg format. They work great in the picture viewer - zoom, pan, etc. - very fast. I find that having my tablet close by while flight planning long trips with my iFly is very helpful. The bigger screen lets me look around for fuel stops much easier. And of course having all of my sectionals on two different machines is a real safety bonus. But these eSectionals are all out of date. I wonder if you could/would make these FAA Sectionals available on your Update page in the .jpg format too? I'd be willing to pay a little more on top of the $69/year for this added service.

Thanks,

Jim Williams

Jim, you can download the latest sectionals from the FAA here: http://aeronav.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=...

Not to take any work/money from Walter, but it seems you should be able to download whatever Sectionals and or TAC's you desire from the internet at http://aeronav.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=aeronav/applications/VFR/chartlist_sect or http://aeronav.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=aeronav/applications/VFR/chartlist_tac , unzip them and either load the .tif files (or convert them to .jpg with one of any number of free or commercial applications and load) directly to your device. Of course they're not stitched together, and you'll have to open a new map file whenever you cross boundaries.

All the digital downloads from the FAA: http://aeronav.faa.gov/index.asp?xml=aeronav/applications

Thanks Walter & Mike. The files on the FAA's site are about three times the size of the eSectional's. ~30mb vs. 10mb. Could one of you tell me how to reduce the file size, please? Do you just run the files thru something like PhotoShop and reduce the resolution?

Thank you.

Jim
