Is there any way to improve the radar depiction? The first screenshot below is from iFly. The bottom one is from SkyVector. They are shots of the same location at the same time. SkyVector has much more detail. The detail is important to help avoid storms. This is one of the easiet to use apps in the air, but it still is lacking in weather support, which many other apps have. Anybody else have this need for improved preflight weather information?

Steven -

I also use Skyvector on my home computer and have had similar thoughts when comparing Skyvector to iFly's weather/storm display. I agree this would be a welcome upgrade if Brian could increase the resolution and detail of the iFly's graphical weather depictions.

Why are all the MSA's different? Also, is the zoom level the same?

EDIT: I don't see that much difference except it looks like Skyvector uses a lot of smoothing. I'm not sure which is actually a more accurate depiction of the weather.

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the posted images. I'm talking about my own views of Skyvector and iFly, looking at some significant weather areas.

First off, it seems you should use the same zoom level.  The one with the smoothed weather is zoomed in almost twice as close.  I clipped out sections from each map that surround what I presume are the same airports.  They're pasted on the side.  The one with the smoothed, more detailed weather is nearly twice as big as the other.  Also, look on each map for the highest obstacle altitudes.  They're different, which would seem to indicate that the map sections depicted are different, and (again presumably) from a more detailed map in the bottom one.

Personally, I would rather see some less than smooth depiction than have iFly smooth the images and insert weather that may not be there just to make it look pretty.
