So, lately I've been sometimes disabling the Terrain layer near the end of a flight, especially at night, when the flashing red terrain near my landing airport becomes too distracting. Problem is, I don't always remember to re-enable it for my next departure. (Often also at night.) So I just landed at an airport surround by terrain, and I depart thinking I've got terrain layer enabled, which will help keep me out of trouble. (I usually catch my mistake within a minute or two after take off. But still ...)
So, short of using a checklist to start up iFly, could we have an optional user default startup script, that sets layers in a user configurable way each startup? I have a Canon camera that I wish had this feature - sometimes in a series of shoots, I'll change the White Balance or something and forget to reset it when I start up the camera a few days later, only to see that my shots are all blue colored.
Or, as an alternative, an Instrument with letters or icons on it that report what layers are enabled?
