One person clutter is another's information. Option to turn it off/on.

That could be, but I think the vector chart already has almost too much information. Why not make the topographic chart a chart unto itself?

What are we talking about here; hi resolution terrain maps or true topographical maps?

This chat is about “Topo maps”, which I think of as maps with zillions of lines, with increased compression of lines to represent terrain heights. I would agree with OP that layering vector map data onto a base map of true Topo map data would not make for a good user experience.

However, if we are talking about layering vector map data over a high resolution terrain map (as per Craig’s suggestion)…well, other apps already do that and there is no clutter. I look for a terrain option for the Vector Map every very time there is a new iFly release, and I am disappointed it isn’t there.

So, +1 to Craig’s suggestion so long as it’s for terrain but not Topo maps.

I guess I'm not sure what a terrain map is. Are you talking about a picture of the ground from space? I thought they were talking about something that would show ground elevation for flying in mountainous areas, etc. Maybe I'm confused.

Terrain maps use color coding to depict elevations of the earth's features...as in Sectionals.
