I haven't given this too much thought, 'cause it just occurred to me. But would an Emergency button be a desirable feature? I was imagining that when the button was pushed, the screen would clear (that is, the various data boxes showing distance to the next waypoint, next waypoint name, etc.) except for emergency type information. Maybe center the aircraft, highlight the nearest fields and the associated airport information on the sectional, change the zoom level such that only the area needed is shown, and draw a circle around the aircraft with a predetermined (by aircraft performance data already entered by each iFly owner) circle showing the distance the aircraft is likely to glide so we could see potential landing airports, maybe even have the circle modified to account for the distance that would likely be lost through turning around and winds aloft, if that becomes a capability of the iFly. Perhaps a text box could open on the side with a checklist that the iFly owner would have already entered from the aircraft owners manual, local Radar frequencies if those are available from the map information. Airport information (runway orientation, frequencies, etc) of the airport the aircraft seems to be flying toward (the information would change if the projected track indicated a different airport, or the pilot selected a different airport)
If there is room, the text box could also include some reminder information, remind the pilot to squawk the appropriate No Radio, or Emergency code, what the airborne light gun signals mean if a controlled field is one of the possible landing, sites, changing to the ground meanings once the iFly determines the plane has landed.
