>What if a backup battery was built into the mounting hardware for the iFly with a short cord from the mount ot the unit itself. If the battery were removable from the mount this would make it even better.<
If this were adopted, it would likely mean an iFly specific power supply, and therefore more expensive. It also wouldn't solve several of the problems encountered now with an unpowered iFly. It would be cumbersome to transport the powered iFly to/from your car where you were already using it in the street mode, or so it already has sattellite lock when you get to the aircraft. The iFly would still reboot as a result of power interruptions. The battery to iFly power cord would still be a potential source of power interruptions.
My ideal preference would be an internal battery, good for several hours, as well as an internal battery charger, so it could be plugged into a 5vdc-35vdc power source, and only run on batteries when disconnected. It would seem to me this feature is certainly possible. After all, look at the size of cell phones, smart phones and other electronic gadgets that already have built in, rechargable batteries that last for several hours, in packages much smaller than the iFly.
>Just a thought, but it would prevent having to buy every iteration of the ifly unit that comes to market!!<
I would imagine that we are going to have to buy a new version of the iFly, because of the improvements in the computer industry, as well as the many features the iFly team is implementing at our request. If I'm not mistaken there are already things the 720 can do that the 700 can't just because of the difference in hardware capabilities.
