Adding the current location relative to an airport, vor or navfix would make postion reporting easier when in the follow plane mode. Display the position North, NE, East, SE, South, SW, West, or NW based on math from the already known Heading to the target. I have shown the location WEST in the mockup below.

This is the first we have been asked for a West, North, Etc direction from a reference point. We do have listing the Radial From. If your in North -Up modes it is pretty easy to determing this, but in Track Up, you have to think a little more. I've made sure to add this comment and scenario to the internal development wishlist. Thanks for the great feedback.
