I too have required window tinting to dim the night viewing of the iFly.. Especially when when on an approach in the soup and you break out near mins it is a bit of night blindness. In addition to the tinting I have fashioned a flip over cover (black cloth) to eliminate the problem. If I remember correctly my old G x96 handheld did not have this problem...All that said the iFLY is far, far superior in all other aspects and I will continue work around this issue.

I agree that the iFly is too bright at night. It would be nice if I could buy a protector to put over the screen for normal use and another that is gray for night flights. That way the whole screen can be darkened without running into the hardware limitations.

Something I have not tried is having the approach plates up in the night mode (white letters on black background). Are some of you saying that mode is still too bright?

I've used the approach plates several times at night while practicing for my IFR with my instructor. I did not have any problems with it being too bright under the foggles......I have it mounted on the right side of the cockpit angled toward me so position might be a factor.
