I've used a Garmin 496 quite a bit and I just bought the iFly 700. I went over to the AP offices and bought it and had a nice chat with Walter while I was there. I've showed the iFly 700 to several friends and they all compare it to a Garmin x96. They like the iFly 700, but they all have asked the same question, "Does it have a display similar to the Panel Page of the Garmin with an HSI/CDI and associated analog indicators such as altitude, ground speed, vertical speed, etc.

I can't think of why this would not be doable in the iFly 700. Walter, almost everyone I've shown the iFly 700 to has said that if it had that mode, they'd drive over to your office and shove a credit card in your hand.

Cheers

It does have all those data, just not in the same format as the Garmin. The compass ribbon is at the top of the moving map, and there's a bug that will show your deviation from your desired course (maenta line). A number of instruments can be added to the periphery of the moving map, including all the ones you mentioned (altitude, vertical speed, ground speed, etc.)

It does, I've shown it to them and they still say they would like to have the Panel Mode. Old habits die hard.

I have been waiting on the "panel mode" to buy a second iFly to mount in the rear seat of the RV-8A that I fly --------Walter/Shane-- any progress to that end?

(Really like the iFly - just re-upted for another two years)

We have been playing with an optional external AHRS device that would support a backup artificial horizon, so we've had some progress. But we've not yet taken this out of the prototype category, been working on other features like weather, terrain, georeferenced plates, easier updates, etc. So it might not make the v7 cut, but it should be close after that.

Thanks!
Walter
