For a while, I was reporting prices for the few gas stations I frequent, but after a few months of me being the only one doing it, I gave up.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting that iFly ditch GlobalAir. Only that there be an easy avenue, using iFly, to report fuel price errors to GlobalAir.

So the system wouldn't be dependent on crowd sourcing for the primary data. Only errors in the data. Kinda like some of the open source street maps do when someone finds an error in a street name, route, etc.

The day I was at Ak-Chin, the Manager had posted a new sign that fuel had gone up even higher than what I paid. If iFly had this error reporting feature, then while I was at the FBO, I could have typed in the new fuel price that the Manager had posted and GlobalAir could have scooped the competition!

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, that'd be great.

Not sure how that would work from within the iFly software, though, since there's no way for the 700/720/740/520 devices to feed that data back upstream. Even if that was somehow cached and transmitted the next time the device was able to talk to the home base (for those devices that *can* talk to the home base), there's no guarantee the data would not be stale by the time it got transmitted.

Sounds like it would have to be a mobile-device-only feature.

Looks like something like an fbo pirep could provide. One of the standard fields would be current gas. If the official gas was different than current gas, then color it funny and I'll check the fbo pirep. Comment fields would be handy BUT SCARY to store - maybe tweet size comments? Be nice if AOPA provided a crowd-source gui for this stuff and shared it freely with the industry (like AP). Of course I'd consider this a preflight (network data) feature.
