Having flown a bit now with the new smaller Flight condition (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR) 'dots' versus the older larger shaded circles I'm missing them. May just be my eyes and the poistion of the unit in my plane but the weather just doesnt jump out as me as clearly. Any chance we could have an option to choose the display format (old circles vs. new dots)?

What zoom level are you having trouble seeing them? At Zoom 21 and higher they only show as outlines and can be hard to see. At lower Zoom levels 21 and less, they show as solid dots, then at Zoom 20 we add the Wind Barbs to them. We've not heard much pushback on this change.

A big benefit to the new dots is when there is nexrad on the screen the colors are clear and defined, whereas the old Metar shading became blended and muddied up with the Nexrad Radar. The larger transparent metar circles were many times confused for TFRs, Stadium TFRs, etc.

I'm not saying its not an option, but it definitely cleans the screen up and reduces such confusion. Additionally, the newer Wind Barbs are more clear and standardizes too. We may just need to tweak the size, color, representation at zoom levels. I'll raise a flag on this for consideration. Thanks for your honest feedback.

When you start up iFly the METAR (and Terrain) opacity reset to a default setting. (30%) I like my METARS at about 60% - makes them stand out better. I was going to say that that might be the reason you're having trouble seeing the dots - but I just tried it and noticed that the green dots don't get any darker with opacity. I don't know if that is by design or an oversight.

Surround the dot with all the "Plot options" please. I'm going to reference Aviationweather.gov/metar as an example of what I'd like so that I don't get accused of copying your competitors. btw, I'm not a fan of iFly's "wind stick" instead of the standard "wind barb"

I don't know what was before the dot. But the dot reminds me of the check engine dummy light on my car. There is a big difference between 0 and 1/4 and 3/4 and 100% cloud cover. I might fly vfr over the top of a mvfr stretch knowing I can get down visually through broken ceilings, but NOT through overcast. If the temp and dew point are close...good luck. If its mvfr because visibility is 4miles in a light rain but the rain clouds are at 10k feet, then I'll go into those minimums.

My experience with the dots are like playing the memory card game. I'm always having to lift the dot and see why this and that one are mvfr(or less) while the other ones around it are vfr.
