Yes, ErgoMike, you are right. The finial destination always shows on that instrument. I can usually remember where I'm going so I turn that instrument off. Old habit I guess. Before GPS I never told my passengers where we were going. When we wanted to stop flying I would land at the first airport I saw and announce "We're here!". My passengers were always amazed that I never got lost! - Jim Williams

Well, my reason for saying that was that on the right of center I have "GS" "Distance to Go" and "Time of Arrival" to my "final" waypoint, be it my ultimate destination or the end of Leg #1. So crafting my flight plans with your method wouldn't work for two of the fields in my set up. Hence the request for breaking legs. (On the left of center, I have "bearing to waypoint" "distance to waypoint" and ETE to waypoint.)

If you're flying IFR, that works ok, but if you fly VFR like me, one has to add (I do it via rubberbanding) all those waypoints around Class B,C,D areas, restricted areas, and even some MOA's. That makes 13 extra waypoints from my home in north Alabama when flying to south Texas. <sigh> It's also why I have a wish-list entry for fuel totalizing (remaining) calc for each leg between wayoints, to make it easier to plan those necessary fuel stops during the flight planning stages.
