I've been having some unexplained lockups when using the GPS. Mostly its been ground use like when showing someone how the system works.(sold a few for you that way) I've now had 2 occasions when the system locked up in flight and thats very annoying. Stuck on a sectional view with no help from any attempts at changing screens or pushing buttons. I had to unplug and restart to get things going. I've updated software and gotten a new card from AP not too long ago. I'm running version 6.5.9 and OS 3.0.11. One other detail thats becoming quite annoying is the power cord socket. Bumping the plug in the socket will reset the unit almost everytime with the AC adapter and occasionally in the plane with the cord there. I think its not the cords but maybe the socket. Is this something common?

I have not had problems with the power cord other than the difficulty at times plugging it in and unplugging it.

I saw a post a couple months ago about making possibly making a DC adapter that had a built in switch so the plug would not have to be removed so often.

Wonder if there has been any progress on this.

I have to be very careful about moving the power plug on my '700 or it will reboot. When using the AC adapter, I plug it into the '700, get it situated on my desk, and then plug in the wall wart. If I pick up the unit and the 12V plug twists much it's all over. Not a problem in the plane, because with my installation the plug never gets moved.

Called Ed last week he suggested trying both AC and DC plug to verify their plug was bad or if the socket in unit was bad. I used 2 AC converters and my DC and all acted the same way with the unit going off and on when you move it. BUT I was using the battery pack each time and discovered that the cable from the pack to my unit is bad and it works fine when hooked directly without the battery. Just thought I would add this to the diagnoses procedure.

Yeah, I had this problem with a unit which was replaced last year and now it is happening on the new unit.

I have to use scotch tape on the power plug.
