When I am following a flight plan and on-course I do not see my destination or next waypoint on the vertical profile if I pull it up. Didn’t it used to?

This was super useful for visualizing a gradual descent to a destination say over a ridge or under an airspace shelf etc.

Did this go away or was it never there and I’m suddenly having a decades old flashback to a Lowrance 2000?

Thanks.

Without more specifics, I'm not exactly sure where you're looking or what you're seeing.  For my part, I haven't noticed any changes in how iFly works in this regard, nor have there been any changes tested in the beta community, so I suspect you're seeing something unique to your usage.

Recall that there are two different places to get "vertical profile"-type information.  One is with the instrument that you can add to the moving map screen.  The other is from the flight plan, using the "Altitudes" button.

The flight plan method will show the entirety of your flight.  It's intended for "strategic" planning--ensuring that the altitudes set in your flight plan are adequate to clear obstacles and terrain across your entire route.

The vertical profile instrument on the moving map is intended for "tactical" planning--it shows a shorter distance, and uses your current altitude and an instantaneous projection of your current rate of climb/descent to help identify near-term obstacle/terrain clearance issues.  (It also shows airspace, too.)

Could it be that you're remembering the way the flight plan "altitudes" button presents the info, but looking at the moving map instrument?

I don't have the answer to this, but this statement: " The flight plan method will show the entirety of your flight.  It's intended for "strategic" planning--ensuring that the altitudes set in your flight plan are adequate to clear obstacles and terrain across your entire route. " brought up a question.

How wide a path does iFly use to depict potential obstacles/airspaces/etc. on this strategic planning diagram?

If it's considering only the trail formed by the exact GPS points, does that mean that I won't know that my path has me flying within 7 ft of an (antenna/mountain/SUA/whatever) 100 or so miles down the road?

Or does it look for, and depict, anything within 1,2,3 miles either side of that plotted path and show anything within that range as being "on the route"?

I am certain that it's scanning more then 7 feet to either side of your plotted route, but I don't know if it's 500' or 5 miles.  Maybe someone from AP will pop in to answer that detail.

What I was looking for was for the in-flight profile to show tags/flags for waypoints and destinations (obviously would need them to be ahead of you as the profile should shows whats ahead).  For example I used to fly into Simsbury a lot and coming from the west I had to cross a ridge while descending to get under an airspace shelf on the other side.

Right now with no tags or flags for destination on the profile, when you look at it you can’t interpret well, I’m descending and the line hits terrain ahead of me, but is that occurring before, at or after my destination? Can’t easily see from the profile.

How about some flags, call out boxes etc. on the profile view, e.g
